Chinese Basketball Association: Guangdong Southern Tigers Continue to Roll, Yi Jianlian Scores 24 Points

The surging Guangdong Southern Tigers continued to stretch the string of their victories in the expense of the Beikong Fly Dragons with a 117-108 victory during the 14th round of the ongoing 22nd season of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) on Sunday night.

Four-time CBA Domestic MVP Yi Jianlian finished the game with a team-high 24 points to lead the Southern Tigers to its 11th win of the regular season. According to EuroBasket, the former NBA player went on to a 9 for 13 shooting from the two-point range and was just a rebound short of registering another double-double game performance for the winning team.
American import Donald Sloan had 21 markers, while the former NBA All-Star Carlos Boozer and Chinese Peng Zhou added with 19 points each for the Southern Tigers, who are on a nine-game winning streak.
Foreign basketball reinforcement Errick McCollum paced Beikong with game-high 38 points, while Esteban Batista had a double-double production of 20 markers and 15 boards.
With the victory, the Southern Tigers improve to a better 11-3 win-loss record and currently tied with the Xinjiang Flying Tigers for the third and fourth spots of the 20-squad league's table. They are expected to have a tougher challenge in the coming 15th round of the regular season, with the Guangsha Lions as their next game assignment on Wednesday.
The Lions are currently sharing the top spot of the team standing with the Jimmer Fredette-led Shanghai Sharks. Guangsha owns an outstanding 13-1 win-loss card and now on an 11-game winning run.
Basing from the match result in the website of NowGoal, Guangdong ended the first 24 minutes of the ballgame with a four-point lead, 55-51.
In the second half of the match, the Southern Tigers put on a combined 62 points while containing the Fly Dragons to produced just 57 points during the last two quarters of the game.
