Two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year winner Kawhi Leonard of the San Antonio Spurs poured in team-high 31 points to lead the Gregg Popovich-headed ballclub to its 13th straight victory on the road with a 105-91 win against the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center on Tuesday evening.

According to the official website of the NBA, Leonard went 11 for 15 from the field and connected two of his three attempts from beyond the arc region while going 7-8 from the foul line in 36 minutes of playing time. The 25-year-all forward, who went scoreless during the first 12 minutes of the game, also posted four rebounds and was able to snatched two steals.
With the victory, the Spurs improved to a better 18-4 win-loss card and just a half game behind the league leader Golden State Warriors. San Antonio is currently on a four game winning streak and had won nine of the last 10 matches they played.
According to a published report by the Associated Press, the Spurs, which went 27-14 on road in the last 2015-2016 NBA regular season, exceeded the record set up by the 1969-70 New York Knicks to claim sole possession of the league's second-best road start to begin a season in the history of the NBA. Golden State Warriors currently hold the best record with a 14-0 start in the last season.
The Spurs is the only remaining team in the league, which remain unbeaten since the NBA opened its new season last October. They are the NBA's no. 1 team in the three-point percentage (.0397) and free throw percentage (.0816).
San Antonio will have the chance to match the Warriors' record when they play the Eastern Conference seventh-ranked Chicago Bulls, which are currently in a three-game losing skid, on Thursday. The Spurs presently enjoy a 51-32 lead over the Jerry Reinsdorf-owned basketball team in their season all-time head-to-head record.
