Philadelphia Sixers center Nerlens Noel is set to make his season debut against the Detroit Pistons on Sunday, according to latest reports.

Noel, 22, has been out with a knee injury since October and has not played a single game this season after undergoing surgery to repair an inflamed plica above his left knee. He was ruled out for three to five weeks, but the rehabilitation took longer than expected and he has not suited up seven weeks into his injury timeline.

However, ESPN reported that the former Kentucky standout could finally be available for the Sixers' game against the Pistons this Sunday at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Detroit.

Noel, the sixth overall pick of the 2013 draft, has a long history of knee injuries. One infamous incident was when he missed the entirety of what should have been his rookie season in 2013-2014 as he recovered from a surgery that repaired a torn ACL in his left knee.

Noel was part of the Sixers walk-through shootaround before their 99-88 win over the Pelicans on Thursday, but he did not play in the actual game. He was assigned to Philly's D-League affiliate, the Delaware 87ers, during the past week and is now re-assigned to the Sixers.

Sixers head coach Brett Brown insinuated that Noel could be back on the court on Sunday, according to the Philadelphia Daily News.

"We want to integrate him with the team, watch a lot of tape, with the understanding that we have a chance to see him soon. So all of that where we can ramp it up where he can go to an NBA court more comfortable," said Brown.

Brown even disclosed that if Noel would be available, he might start him or Jahlil Okafor alongside Joel Embiid against the Pistons.

The Sixers are mentioned in a lot of trade rumors lately because of the impending logjam at the center spot when Noel returns from injury. The restriction for trading newly-acquired free agents will be lifted on Dec. 15 and Philadelphia is expected to become one of the busiest team when that time comes.
