Hugh Hefner is dead -- or so the Internet claims.
Many were quick to believe that the world renowned Playboy founder has passed on, especially since he is already 90 years old. As rumors claimed, Hefner had allegedly passed in the arms of his third wife, Crystal Harris, in his mansion on Friday night.

However, a couple of news outlets were able to confirm that Hefner was in his mansion at the time and that it was nothing but a death scare that was much too late for Halloween.
While loyal fans and followers were relieved (albeit pissed off by rumor starters) that the news was not true, the false news continued to trend on the Internet. It seemed that those who believed either wanted it to be true or just did not have the capacity to look for reliable sources online.
One of his most recent and famous ex-girlfriends, Kendra Wilkinson, also attempted to put an end to the rumors by tweeting, "He's OK," adding, "He's not dead. You guys scared me."
Hefner later seemingly took the reigns and went on Twitter after a long absence, thus proving that he is indeed alive and well. Probably still in his shiny red robe and in front of his laptop (or smartphone), the Hef wrote, "Tonight's Mansion movie was Bogie and Bacall in 'The Big Sleep'."
However, this is definitely not the first time that he has been rumored to be dead. Back in 2011, he brushed off rumors himself by tweeting that false reports were "greatly exaggerated" and that he was "very much alive & kicking."
In September this year, his unexpected "demise" had trended again to the point that law enforcements were instructed to rush to check up on him. TMZ reported that cops were even met by the bunny house staff, who assured that Hef was doing fine. Hefner later called the police himself to prove that he was alive.
