Chinese Basketball Association: Former NBA Player Jimmer Fredette Leads Shanghai Sharks to Beat Tianjin Golden Lions to Remain on Top

The top-ranked team of Shanghai Sharks continued to display their dominance in the ongoing 22nd season of the Chinese Basketball Association after winning over the Tianjin Gold Lions with a 109-98 triumph in the 16th round of China's top league.

According to EuroBasket, former NBA player Jimmer Fredette led the Sharks with another monster game of game-high 42 points to go along with eight rebounds, four assists, and one steal in 44 minutes of playing time. The Brigham Young University product went 8-14 from the two-point range, 4-14 from the three-point region, and 14-15 from the foul line.

The French power forward Guerschon Yabusele contributed with a double-double game production of 24 markers and 11 boards, while Chinese players XiaoYu Liu and Peng Ju chipped in with 15 points and 10 points, respectively, for the winners.

Palestinian center Sani Sakakini paced Tianjin with team-high 32 points and 19 rebounds with fellow foreign reinforcement Jeter Eugene finishing the match with 20 markers.

With the victory, the Sharks maintained their hold on the top of the league's team standing having won 15 of the 16 games they played since the new season started last October. Shanghai also extended their winning streak to nine straight games in a row.

Basing from the game result in the website of NowGoal, the Sharks launched a combined 52-38 run during the first 24 minutes of the ballgame to establish a 14-point lead at the half. In the third period of the match, the Golden Lions tried to make a comeback and staged a 33-28 charge to narrow the gap to just nine points, 80-71, going in to the final quarter of the game.

In the final 12 minutes of the contest, the Yao Ming-owned basketball team contained the opposing team to just 27 points production while it scored 29 during the last quarter of the game to secure the victory.

The Sharks will be facing the Beijing Ducks in the next round of the regular season on Wednesday.
