OPPO officially launched its latest Red color variant of the OPPO R9s smartphone in China for the price of $403 (2,799 yuan). The new color variant of the device will go on sale in the country starting Dec. 24.

The Red variant of the OPPO R9s is now available for pre-order on the company's official website. However, there is no word on whether or not this new color mode will be available outside of China at this moment.

The OPPO R9s was classified as a mid-range device. The smartphone comes with a 5.5-inch full HD (1080 x 1920 pixels) display screen with 2.5D curved glass, along with the fifth generation Corning Gorilla Glass protection. Under the hood, the handheld device is powered by a Snapdragon 625 processor clocked at speed of 2GHz. It comes equipped with an Adreno 506 GPU to handle graphics and a massive 4GB of RAM onboard.

On the photography side, the OPPO R9s sports a 16-megapixel shooter on the rear with an aperture of f/1.7 and a 16-megapixel front facing with f/2.0 aperture support.

The OPPO R9s comes with a huge 64GB native internal memory storage, which can be further expandable via a dedicated microSD card. The handset runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) operating system out of the box, coupled with OPPO's latest customized user interface. It is fueled by a 3,010mAh capacity battery inside, which supports VOOC Flash Charge technology.

Other features the device offers include dual SIM support, fingerprint scanner, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, and NFC. Sensors available are accelerometer, proximity sensor, ambient light, and gyroscope. The device measures 153 x 74.30 x 6.58 mm and weighs around 145 grams.
