"We did a great job of just playing together," Westbrook, who has scored at least 20 points in the last 11 straight matches in a row, said.
"It was great, man, to come in (during the fourth quarter) with everything under control. (We) did a great job of managing the game," the five-time NBA All-Star continued.
Westbrook got the needed offensive support from the 23-year-old Spanish shooting guard Alex Abrines, who contributed with 18 points coming off the bench. Big men Enes Kanter and Steven Adam also have their share as they chipped in with 14 points and 12 points, respectively, for the winners.
According to the report of the ESPN, Anthony Davis had team-high 34 points and 15 rebounds to pace the New Orleans. Jrue Holiday posted 23 points and 10 assists, and Terrence Jones had 21 markers for the host team, who had lost nine of their last 12 matches played.
With the win, the Thunder now improved to a better 17-12 win-loss card and posted their sixth triumph in the 12 games played on road this season. On the other hand, the Pelicans, who is coming off a lopsided victory in Philadelphia a night earlier, dropped to 10-21 and suffered their 10th defeat at home.
The Oklahoma City Thunder will play the Boston Celtics at The Garden on Friday night, while the New Orleans Pelicans will host the Miami Heat on the same day.
