Both Apple and HTC are all in the news because of a newly unveiled product line and a smartphone that remains at the top this 2014.

Low revenues, however, endanger HTC as Apple keeps posting huge sales from the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and the Apple Watch that comes with the HealthKit and Pay platforms.

While it has a lot of improvements from previous models, the iPhone 6 still faces stiff competition against Android smartphones such as the HTC One M8 and Samsung Galaxy S5. Both phones feature bigger touchscreens, quad-core processors and expandable memory.

Meanwhile, Apple and Samsung started their healthcare venture with Apple's Healthbook and Samsung's S Health.

These systems are designed to work with the Samsung Galaxy Gear and Apple Watch.

The iPhone 6 does not have a blood pressure monitor but both have barometric pressure, humidity and temperature sensors. Apple also has the M8 motion coprocessor that monitors distance and elevation.

HTC, on the other hand, partnered with Fitbit for its healthcare system.

Apple has a 64-bit A8 which is a dual-core system clocked at 1.4 GHz. It makes the iPhone 6 faster than the iPhone 5S and 50 percent more efficient in energy use.

While Apple claims its RAM is faster, 1 GB of RAM may still be too small as opposed to its rivals. The Galaxy S5 runs a 2.5 GHz Snapdragon 801 with 2 GB of RAM.

Apple controls its 64-bit software and 64-bit silicon, maximizing functionality unlike Samsung. Based on the Anandtech benchmark tests, the iPhone 5S is even faster than the Galaxy S5.

Meanwhile, the HTC One M8 runs an impressive Snapdragon 801 SoC and a quad-core Krait CPU though the Adreno 330 GPU could still be a downside. Its motion coprocessor supports better sensors and reduces energy use.
