The Houston Rockets are targeting Sacramento Kings big man Kosta Koufos to reinforce the team's frontcourt, according to latest trade rumors.
Houston has been looking for a player to add depth to their now short-handed frontcourt since starting center Clint Capela suffered a left fibula fracture during the team's 111-109 overtime win over the Minnesota Timberwolves last Dec. 17.

The injury is reportedly set to be re-evaluated next week but ESPN noted that the 22-year-old Swiss big man is "expected to be sidelined for at least another two weeks", which means that the Rockets could no longer afford to settle for an undermanned lineup and just wait for his return.
With their current quandary, the Rockets are said to be considering to trade for Koufos, an eight-year veteran who is the current starting power forward for the Kings. He is a natural center at 7-feet tall, but DeMarcus Cousins is officially listed as Sacramento's starter at that spot.
At the moment, Nene has been starting for head coach Mike D'Antoni while sophomore power forward Montrezl Harrell has been playing out of position to serve as back up to the Brazilian veteran.
Nene and Harrell are both filling up the spot well with the Rockets winning five of their last seven games without Capela. Still, the team's senior officials are said to be keen on adding another big man via the trade market.
Meanwhile, SB Nation reported that Houston is considering Koufos as a "prime trade target" and he could be the "defense-first big man" that the team is looking for.
Speculations are out that Houston could include wingman Corey Brewer in their offer to acquire Koufos as the Kings could use Brewer as an insurance at the small forward position should they lose Rudy Gay in the near future.
Sacramento has had a previous interest in Brewer, particularly during the reign of former head coach George Karl. However, right now, it is not clear if the Kings still consider Brewer valuable.
Additionally, with Willie Cauley-Stein's slow development, it would be surprising if the Kings would let go of Koufos that easily.
