Samsung Galaxy Note Edge vs. Samsung Galaxy Note 4: Why Note 4 is the Winner

The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge and the Galaxy Note 4 differ mainly in design.

The Galaxy Note Edge features a bendable OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) display that handles incoming notifications so the user can still use the main screen independently.

DisplayMate Technologies recently tested the Samsung Galaxy S5 display and said it appears to be the best they've ever tested.

It also tested and compared the Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy Note Edge, which both have OLED displays.

The difference lies in the substrates. The Note 4 uses a traditional glass substrate while the Note Edge has a flexible plastic one.

Both handsets also use a Super-Amoled display with the Note Edge measuring 5.6-inches and the Note 4 measuring 5.7-inches. The Note Edge has a 524 ppi pixel density while the Note 4 has a 515 ppi pixel density.

Both the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge and the Galaxy Note 4 have the same processors.

Most regions have the two with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 while a few regions will have both sporting an Exynos 5433 chip.

Both handsets also use the same 16 MP rear camera that can shoot to a 3456 x 4608 resolution, featuring Samsung's Smart OIS offering image stabilization. Both smartphones have 4K video recording capabilities.

The Galaxy Note Edge SDK will be available for developers soon.  Once they've accessed the SDK, more uses will be added to the bent display.

The Galaxy Note Edge is also easier for right-handed people because left-handed people will have to flip the phone so the home button appears at the top of the screen.

The price of the Galaxy Note Edge could also be more expensive than that of the Note 4.
