The Nexus 5 launched in 2013 and people expect there'll be a new Google device every year.

The year is already halfway through and there's still no Nexus 6 or Nexus X. Here's a round-up of the latest reports to understand when people can really expect the handset with its features and specs.

It's a given a manufacturer bases a new handset on its current flagship, which means the Nexus 6 could be similar to the Moto X.

Moto X sports a 5.2-inch display and this is what the Nexus 6 is rumored to have but with an upgraded QHD 2560 x 1440 screen instead of a full HD resolution. The new Moto X also has a Snapdragon 801 which is not 64-bit compatible.

On the other hand, Google may want the Nexus 6 to run a 64-bit Android 5.0 L. It could mean an upgrade to Snapdragon 810 or 808 but recent rumors suggest a 32-bit Snapdragon 805.

If the rumors aren't true, Android fans are still excited about the Moto X Pure Edition, which is said to be part of the Motorola pre-order that starts on Sept. 16.

It's believed to be the next best thing after Nexus should the Nexus 6 or Nexus X be delayed or skipped, just like the Nexus 10 2 in 2013. According to Motorola, the Moto X Pure Edition will run a near-stock Android out of the box.

An indicator the Nexus 6 and Nexus 8 release dates are coming are the sweet Nexus 7 deals, offering the device for as low as US$129 at eBay.

It could be Google's way of clearing up old stocks. The Nexus 7 2013 is also rumored to have its own replacement from HTC.

The supposed HTC Nexus 9 is also said to come with an 8.9-inch display. The Nexus 9 could be released in November, or one month following the Nexus 6 or Nexus X release in October 2014.
