ASUS officially launched its latest laptop computer - the ASUS R55UQ notebook - in India. The computer will be available in two variant models, the Core i5 processor priced at Rs. 59,990 ($879) and Core i7 cost at around Rs. 48,990 ($718).

The launching was headed by Regional Head of South Asia and Country Manager, System Business Group of Asus India, Peter Chang. According to Chang, there was an increased of computer notebook demand in the market, and hence, this segment of products are their main focus this year.

The ASUS R558UQ notebook computer is an upgraded version of last year's ASUS R588. Unlike its predecessor, the laptop features a 15.6-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display screen with LED-backlit display at 200 nits. It has a 1TB 5400RPM HDD and an Nvidia GeForce 940MX (N16S-GTR) dedicated graphics with 2GB of DDR3 video RAM. As mentioned earlier, the notebook will be available in two models - one powered by Intel Core i5-7200U processor clocked at a speed of 2.5GHz and an Intel Core i7-7500U processor clocked at 2.7GHz.

The ASUS R558UQ computer is equipped with Intel HD Graphics 620 integrated graphics. The Core i7 model features a massive 8GB of DDR4 RAM onboard, while a 4GB of DDR4 RAM is built into the Core i5 version. The notebook runs on Microsoft's latest Windows 10 operating system out of the box. Fueling the R558UQ is a 2-cell 38Whr Li-ion battery.

Other features the ASUS R558UQ laptop offers include USB Type-C ports, VGA webcam, SD card reader, 1 x USB 2.0, 1 x USB 3.0, 1x USB 3.1 Type-C, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Ethernet jack, Bluetooth 4.0, HDMI, and a headphone jack. The notebook computer measures a body dimension of 256 x 150 x 25.5 mm and weighs around 2.3 kg.

The ASUS R558UQ Core i5 model comes in Matt Golden, Red, Glossy Dark Brown, and Dark Blue color options, while the Core i7 model is available in Glossy Dark Brown.
