Chinese Basketball Association: Guangsha Lions Put Jamaal Franklin’s Triple-Double Game Performance in Vain After Winning Over Shanxi Brave Dragons

Guangsha Lions resisted a late comeback from the spirited Shanxi Brave Dragons to win at 131-125 and climbed up to a provisional fourth place in the 29th round of the 2016-2017 season of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) on Wednesday night at the Riverside Sports Arena in Taiyuan, Shanxi.

According to Sina, the Lions' victory is attributed to the team's remarkable shooting from the foul line. Guangsha made an impressive 38 of 40 free throw shots awarded to them during the action-packed 48 minutes of the game.
Foreign basketball reinforcement Courtney Fortson registered another outstanding double-double game performance of game-high 49 points and 14 assists in leading the Lions to another victorious match. The 28-year-old American point guard went on a perfect 17 for 17 from the stripe. Teammate Eli Holman helped Guangsha with 20 points and nine rebounds.
Former NBA player Jamaal Franklin paced Shanxi with another brilliant triple-double game production of 43 points, 14 assists, and 12 rebounds. The Brave Dragons suffered their 16th loss in 29 games played this season.
According to Asia-Basket, the victory puts Guangsha in the fourth spot in the team standings with a 22-7 win-loss card. The Lions are a-half game ahead of the current fifth-ranked team of Liaoning Flying Leopards (21-7), who are set to play the Sichuan Blue Whales on Friday for the second part of the 29th round.
Guangsha built a good start with a 13-2 run after the tip-off, and led at 34-27 as the first quarter ran out. Guangsha had a six-point advantage into the final 12 minutes, before the host team slowly cut the deficit with consecutive three-pointers.
The Brave Dragons were just trailing by four points 123-119 and with 45 seconds remaining on the game clock, Shanxi has a good chance of wrapping the match with a victory. They continued to send the visiting team to the free throw line and gambled for a favorable result on their part.However, with the stable shooting of the Lions from the stripe, Guangsha hold on with the win.
