The Golden Stars entered the match carrying a 1-2 win-loss card in their last three outings. The Aleksandar Kesar-headed squad has rendered sloppy performances against the much lower ranked teams of the Jiangsu Tongxi Monkey King and the Jiangsu Dragons in the last 27th and 28th round of the regular season.
According to Sina, foreign basketball reinforcement Justin Dentmon had a game-high 30 points in leading the Golden Stars to a 122-100 routing of the league's worst-performing team this season.
Six other players finished the game in double figures with local players Tao Hanlin and Xiao Ding contributing with 21 points and 19 points, respectively for the winning team.
Guangzhou's 24-year-old 7-footer Chinese big man Zheng Zhun poured in 20 points to lead the Long-Lions while American import D.J. Kennedy had 17 markers and 11 boards.
With the victory, Shandong now improves to a 17-12 win-loss record that kept the team in much better position in maintaining their spot in the race to the final eight. The Golden Stars are currently on the seventh place of the team standings, being a game-and-half ahead of the Beijing Ducks and the Sichuan Blue Whales, which are tied in the eighth and ninth spot of the league's table with a 15-13 win-loss card.
Basing from the match result in NowGoal, the Long-Lions outscored the winning team in the first 12 minutes of the game as Guangzhou put on an early 29-25 run. However, the Golden Stars immediately regrouped in the second quarter and staged a 26-21 charge to end the first half leading by a single point, 51-50.
In the third period, Shandong stormed the opposing side with a 40-21 run to enter the final quarter leading by a comfortable 20-point advantage as the Golden Stars walked away with the win.
