Chinese smartphone maker Vivo has officially launched its latest device dubbed as the Vivo Y55s smartphone in India. The smartphone will be available for purchase across the country starting Feb. 26 at Rs. 12,490 or roughly equivalent to $187.43.

The launch of the Vivo Y55s smartphone was overseen by CEO of Vivo India, Kent Cheng. "After the success of Vivo V5 Plus, we hereby strengthen our Y series portfolio with the launch of the Y55s. We are confident that Vivo will have a great run in the year 2017," Cheng commented during the launch.

The Vivo Y55s smartphone features a 5.2-inch IPS HD display screen with a resolution of 720 pixels by 1280 pixels and 2.5D curved edge screen. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor clocked at a speed of 1.4 Ghz, which is paired with 3GB of RAM. It comes equipped with a built-in 16GB of internal memory storage, which can be further expandable up to 256GB via a dedicated microSD card slot.

The Vivo Y55s smartphone sports a 13-megapixel camera on the rear and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies. The phone runs on the Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) operating system out of the box, which is coupled with the Funtouch OS 3.0 user interface laid on top. The device is backed by a non-removable 2,730 mAh battery capacity battery inside.

Other features the Vivo Y55s smartphone offers include 4G LTE network support, dual-SIM, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0, A2DP, GPS with A-GPS, and microUSB v2.0. Sensors on the phone are Accelerometer, Proximity, and Compass.

The Vivo Y55s smartphone will be available in Crown Gold and Space Grey color.
