Xiaomi Mi4 vs. iPhone 6 Plus: Affordable Smartphone Can Compete with New Apple Phablet

The new iPhone 6 Plus has a lot of rivals such as the Galaxy Note 4, the HTC One M8 and the Xperia Z3 but a new competitor may also interfere with the rise of the iPhone at the top of the smartphone market and this is the Xiaomi Mi4.
Xiaomi Mi4 is a handset built by a Chinese brand dubbed the "Apple of China." The Xiaomi Mi4 was released in August while the Apple iPhone 6 Plus is to be released Sept. 19. Here's a comparison of the iPhone 6 Plus and Mi4 specs, features and price.

The iPhone 6 Plus sports a 5.5-inch LED-backlit IPS LCD display that supports full HD resolution and a pixel density of 401 ppi. Meanwhile, the Xiaomi Mi4 has a smaller 5-inch IPS LCD screen with the same full HD resolution but with a higher pixel density of 441 ppi.
The iPhone 6 Plus has the new A8 processor clocked at 1.4 GHz. This dual-core 64-bit Apple chip is supported by 2 GB of RAM and PowerVR GX6650 GPU.
Its M8 motion co-processor can fetch data from various sensors in the iPhone 6 Plus and while there are 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB variants, there is no external storage support.
Meanwhile, the Xiaomi Mi4 has a Snadragon 801 chipset with has a Krait 400 quad-core processor clocked at 2.5 GHz. It has 3 GB of RAM and an Adreno 330 graphics. It's available in 16 GB and 64 GB with no microSD card slot, as well.
The iPhone 6 Plus has an 8 megapixel rear camera with iSight technology and full HD video recording capability. It also has a 1.2 megapixel front camera which can record 720p videos.
On the other hand, the Xiaomi Mi4 features a 13 megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash. It also has an impressive 8 megapixel front camera which can record full HD videos.
The iPhone 6 Plus comes with the new iOS 8 while the Xiaomi Mi4 runs on Android 4.4.3 KitKat with the MIUI 5.0 UI.
Xiaomi Mi4 also does not have the NFC technology of the iPhone 6 Plus. The iPhone 6 Plus has a non-removable 1810 mAh battery while the Mi4 has a non-removable battery that lasts 16 hours of talk time and 280 hours of standby time.
The Xiaomi Mi4 costs US$439 for the 16 GB version and US$449 for the 32 GB model while the iPhone 6 Plus costs US$299, US$399 and US$499 with contract for its 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB variants.
