China lost to Team USA, 5-7, in the fourth day of the 2017 World Women's Curling Championship on Tuesday held at the Capital Indoor Stadium in Beijing.

It was China's fifth loss in the tournament for head coach Tan Weidong's squad. The hosts now has a 2-5 win-loss record as they remained at third-from-the-last place in the 12-team table ahead of Italy, who slightly has a lower shot percentage, and the winless Denmark side.

The Americans currently carries a 4-3 slate, enough for sixth in the standings. It was the third-straight win for Team USA after suffering their third defeat against Canada in the morning of the previous day.

Three points in the seventh end sealed the win for the United States as China was only able to score a single point in the last three ends of the match. Tan's players admitted after the match that the Americans had played better and that "their opponents well deserved the win", Xinhuanet reported.

"We played with them before, but the results were not very great," said China's second player Liu Jinli. "They stayed calm during the game today, and didn't make many mistakes."

Liu also disclosed that the team had been struggling during evening games, after they scored their second win of the tournament, 7-5, over the Danish team in the afternoon. "We had two games today and felt not so good both mentally and physically in the game at night," she said.

With only four rounds left in the eliminations, China, the 2009 world champions, now only has a slim chance of advancing in the playoffs where only the top four teams will advance.

Meanwhile, Switzerland continues to go down the standings after dropping their third consecutive game with a 4-9 loss to Sweden also on Tuesday evening. The Swiss team won their first four games of the tournament before going on their current losing streak.

Earlier in the day, Switzerland also lost to the Czech Republic, 7-10, as the Czechs broke the deadlock with three points in the ninth end while keeping coach Mirjam Ott's squad scoreless in the last two ends.
