The Imperial Guards are coming off a 1-1 draw with newly-promoted side Guizhou Zhicheng on the road at the Guiyang Olympic Sports Center on March 11 for their second-straight winless performance, according to the South China Morning Post.

Hong Kong international Baise Festus scored the opening goal of the match in the 23rd minute for Guizhou off an assist by Dutch import Tjaronn Chery. Head coach Jose Gonzalez's squad was then able to level the count two minutes before the halftime break. Both teams went scoreless for the rest of the match to settle for the tie.

Meanwhile, Shanghai Shenhua followed their season-opening 4-0 victory over Jiangsu Suning with a disappointing 1-1 draw against another newly-promoted team, Tianjin Quanjian, at their home ground of Hongkou Stadium also on March 11, Shanghai Daily reported.

Shenhua was a man-down early as midfielder Qin Sheng was sent off in the 24th minute after stamping the foot of Tianjin import Axel Witsel inside the penalty box. Qin went on to get harsher punishments from the club and the Chinese Football Association, such as a six-month suspension, relegation to the Shenhua reserves, multiple fines, and a threat to withhold his salary for the whole season.

Shenhua captain Giovanni Moreno broke the deadlock in the 75th minute despite having only 10 men, but Witsel netted the equalizer 10 minutes later to salvage the draw.

The predicted result is a close 2-1 victory for Shanghai Shenhua.
