Chinese smartphone manufacturer Gionee has started rolling out an OTA update for its recently unveiled device dubbed as the Gionee A1. The OTA update will bring improvements to the Video, Music, and front camera features.

The Gionee A1 smartphone is not available for purchase in the market yet. According to Gionee, the OTA update would pop up for users after they unbox their respective devices. Users may also manually check for update on the device via Settings option > About > Software update.

As mentioned earlier, the OTA update would bring some improvements to the Music feature. This update will let users create their music library in the Music app. Users will also get an all-new alphabetic search feature in the music library, and a customized suspend button functionality.

Users can also watch videos in a common video player for both locally stored videos and those from YouTube. Also, the new update also brings floating window features for YouTube videos. The front camera for selfies will now be automatically stored in a folder dubbed Selfiestan and will also allow users to customize the folder as per their requirements.

As for the specifications, the Gionee A1 smartphone has a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display with 1920 pixels by 1080 pixels resolution. Under the hood, the device is powered by a quad-core MediaTek 6755 Helio P10 processor, coupled with 4GB of RAM onboard. It comes equipped with a built-in 64GB of internal storage, which can be further expandable up to 128GB via microSD card slot.

On the camera front, the Gionee A1 has a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with F2.0, auto-focus, 5P lens,  1/3.06 inches, and flash support. On the front is a 16-megapixel sensor with fixed focus, F2.0, 1/3.06 inches, selfie flash, and 5P lens.

The Gionee A1 runs on the latest Android 7.0 (Nougat) operating system out of the box. It is fueled by a 4,010 mAh capacity battery. Other features the device offers include support dual-SIM, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, 4G LTE, and micro USB. The handset measures a body dimension 154.5 mm x 76.5 mm x 8.5 mm and weighs 182 grams.
