WASHINGTON - An unarmed man on Friday jumped the White House's north fence and made it all the way inside the North Portico building's doors before being apprehended, said Secret Service spokesperson Brian Leary.
While it is still unclear how the intruder was able to scale the White House's fence, cross the lawn and make it all the way to the north building, the incident will likely spark a re-review of security measures at one of the world's most protected compounds.

Video footage of the incident showed the suspect - later identified as 42-year-old Omar J. Gonzalez from Copperas Cove, Texas - jumped the fence, ignoring commands from authorities to stop and sprinted towards the north building overlooking Pennsylvania Avenue.
Officials caught Gonzalez just inside the doors of the North Portico building. A search of the suspect revealed he carried no weapons. Shortly after, Gonzalez was brought to nearby George Washington University Hospital for medical evaluation after he complained of chest pains, said Secret Service spokesperson Ed Donovan.
The incursion prompted a partial evacuation of the White House and was temporarily placed on lockdown. In the West Wing, White House personnel and several members of the press were evacuated by the Secret Service, some of whom had their weapons drawn, the Associated Press relayed.
The lockdown has since been lifted but investigations are still underway.
"This situation was a little different than other incidents we have at the White House," Donovan said, likely referring to previous fence-jumping incidents where suspects don't usually make it all the way across the lawn and into the building.
The First Family was not at the compound at the time of the incident.
Just minutes before the incident occurred, President Barack Obama and his children left the White House and were on their way to the Maryland presidential retreat at Camp David. First Lady Michelle Obama traveled separately to the retreat and was not at the White House either at the time the incident occurred, White House officials said.
