Prior to the United Nations addressing the growing concerns regarding climate change today in New York, Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Gaoili said that China will be pledging US$6 million in supporting projects aimed at tackling global warming.
United Nations Secretary Ban Ki-moon will be talking about this during the UN Climate Summit and Zhang will be in attendance as a special envoy of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The meeting is said to be centering on a year-long negotiation for a new climate change treaty. By 2015, the UN leaders hope that all nations will reduce their use of greenhouse gases.
Zhang stated that China appreciates the UN Climate Summit led by the UN leaders since it will have a massive effect on letting other countries prioritize climate concerns.
Zhang added that the Chinese government deems the issue as something very important. He also talked about the post-2015 agenda of the UN, noting that countries should aim at dismissing poverty and push towards common development.
In response to this, Ban said that they appreciated China's pledge and has praised the country for actively participating to address the growing global threat. He added that China also tackled the Ebola epidemic in North Africa, which is another threat that is spreading now.
Meanwhile, other companies will also be talking about global warming. Mars Inc., Unilever, Statoil, and five oil gas companies have been discussing about phasing out the use of fossil fuels as well as plugging methane leaks.
Also in the meeting with Ban are Air France-KLM, Royal Dutch Plc, Siemens, and McDonald's Corp. A notable public figure when it comes tackling global warming, former U.S. Vice President Al Gore, was also said to be in attendance.
On Sunday evening, a march involving over 300,000 people took place in New York City as protesters also demanded actions regarding climate change. It was said to be the largest U.S. rally since 2003.
Figures presented showed that China and India are the leading countries when it comes to creating more greenhouse gases as richer countries have already outsourced their carbon.
If and when nations continue to emit Carbon, scientists have predicted that in twenty to thirty years, our "carbon budget" will already be higher than the limit, thus contributing more to worsening the effects of climate change.
