Han Dynasty artifacts are expected to be displayed in Paris museum to commemorate Chinese-French diplomatic ties.
The display would be the biggest exhibition to be done outside China. French viewers would expect an artifact display after an agreement was signed between the Guimet Museum and Art Exhibitions China. The overseas display of the relics was in celebration of 50 years of friendship between the two countries.

The exhibit titled, Splendors of Han, Flying of the Heavenly Empire, will showcase a total of 456 relics. These artifacts came from 27 museums in China and would be on display until March 1, 2015.
Art Exhibitions China deputy director Yao An said the display would showcase records written on wooden ships during the Han Dynasty as well as gold and silk pieces. Yao also said the highlight of the display would be the unearthed burial suit from Xuzhou, Jiangsu. The suit is made of jade and gold wire weighing 1.7 kilos and standing 1.76 meter. Furthermore, she said it was recognized to be the finest burial suit of its kind during the period.
Exhibit counselor Yang Hong said the Han Dynasty is the center of the ancient Chinese culture. He also said the period showed the start of China’s unified central empire. Yang also added it is very rare to see such relics that would educate people about history, tradition, social structure and even daily life.
The display has seven themes including the dynasty’s fine art development, communication among ethnic groups in China and its political structure. Yang said viewers would be able to see the accessories used at the time the occupants of the tomb were still alive.
China’s exhibition in France dates back to the 70s. Relics from provinces including Gansu, Beijing and Shaanxi have been brought to France for display over the years.
Guimet Musuem curator Eric Lefebvre said the hall would showcase a Han tomb design. He also added audience would be delighted by the exhibit no matter what their cultural backgrounds are.
