House Speaker John Boehner on Tuesday declared that "competence" will be the key issue in the 2016 elections, and if Florida Gov. Jeb Bush joins the race, he has a good chance of winning.
The Ohio Republican recounted Bush's time as a governor in Florida from 1999 to 2007, saying he was able to make big and significant reforms in the state back then, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported.

In addition, Boehner also said during the interview that he was impressed with how Bush can discuss Republican issues "better than the majority of the people we've got out there."
Boehner also said that Ohio Senator Rob Portman and Governor John Kasich would be great candidates if they decided to run.
"There are a lot of good candidates," Boehner said during the interview. "We'll see who decides to throw their hat in the ring."
Meanwhile, Boehner also denied reports that he will run for a third term as the speaker of the house in January.
During the half-hour session in his Capitol Hill office, the Ohio Republican also shot down rumors that his team will deny the Republican lawmakers, who will vote against him, of any assignments in the committee.
According to Boehner, the "punishment" was unnecessary.
In addition, he expects that only a few GOP lawmakers would vote against him during the January speaker election when the 114th Congress convenes.
Meanwhile, Republicans are expecting to get the majority of seats in the Senate after the midterm elections in November, which will put Boehner and his likely partner, Sen. Mitch McConnell, at the helm of that chamber.
According to Boehner, his relationship with McConnell would be beneficial to the Congress, adding that they were close and understood "each other very well."
Boehner also denied rumors that the 114th Congress would be his last.
The Ohio Republican said he was going to stay "all in."
