A North Korea official said Kim Jong Un is not sick amid speculations on the leader’s health.
During a rare trip to South Korea, North Korean official Kim Yang Gon said there is nothing wrong with their leader’s health. He also rebutted coup rumors in Pyongyang.
The public has not seen the 32-year old leader for more than a month. The last time Kim was spotted was during a music concert together with his wife. The leader was also noticed to have been missing during an important session of the Supreme People’s Assembly.

This led to even more speculations over his health after Kim was also seen limping. Some suspect the North Korean leader has incurred gout due to weight gain and diet issues. The only report about the leader’s wellbeing was confirmed by a North Korean media outlet saying Kim was feeling “discomfort”.
Some experts believed Kim has suffered high blood pressure and even diabetes.
However, the surprise visit to South Korea on Saturday by Kim’s top officials and aides overthrow public speculation. This was after senior official Kim Yang Gon made his remarks about the leader’s wellbeing. The senior official was in-charge of the country’s affairs related to South Korea.
South Korean Unification Minister Ryoo Kihl-jae said the tone of Kim Yang Gon’s comment were sufficient to know the North Korean leader has not been suffering from any health issues. However, the senior official did not comment why Kim has not been publicly visible lately after he last attended a concert on September 3.
The delegation to SoKor on Saturday was led of North Korea National Defense Commission vice chairman Hwang Pyong So. The defense deputy told Minister Ryoo to deliver a heartfelt greeting from North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to President Park Geun-hye. However, there was no specific message thereafter.
