Samsung will Take on iPhone 6 with New A3, A5 and A7 Devices

Galaxy A5

Samsung has flopped this year. There is no other way to say it, their revenue is down, profit is down and the Galaxy S5 has been abandoned by the company, with hardly any marketing push for the 5-inch Android device.

To make up for the lacklustre first half, Samsung is heavily promoting the Galaxy Note 4, the phablet to take on the iPhone 6 Plus, and is preparing a new line of mid-range, premium devices to compete against the iPhone 6, named the A3, A5 and A7.

The Galaxy A3, A5 and A7 will represent a big push into the iPhone 6's market, they will not be competing on specifications, but rather the quality of the device. This should give Samsung a lead, since they can manufacturer the devices for cheaper and pit them against the iPhone 6.

The only problem with this move is it has been tried before. Some manufacturers like Xiaomi, OnePlus and Google's Nexus even offer top of the line devices for $200 cheaper than the iPhone - it doesn't make Apple scared and doesn't ruin their growth.

The A3 will be a small device around 4-inches with a Snapdragon 400 processor, 1 or 2GB of RAM, 16/32GB of internal storage, 13MP camera and 4G LTE support. The Galaxy A5 will be more of the same, with a 5-inch HD display (720p) and 2330mAh battery.

The A7 will be a larger device at 5.5-inches, with the same specs, but a full HD display this time. Samsung will price these smartphones between $300 and $500 and the opening market should be Asia, specifically China.

China is a big market and Apple has shown promise, with over 4 million pre-orders already. The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus will launch in China on October 17. Samsung is preparing the A series for later in November.
