Insiders have said that baby Esmeralda Amada's name was inspired by Eva's family. According to the insider, it is important for Mendes to link her child's name to her family.
Mendes might have also chosen the name "Amada" after a character she played in the 2007 crime drama, "We Own the Night." Eva portrayed the role of Amada Juarez in the flick.
As for Gosling, a source said that the new fathers "a little nervous" but he "is thrilled it's a little girl."
The two kept the pregnancy a secret until July. Mendes especially laid low during her pregnancy. Her last red carpet appearance was in late February.
The actress was also seen trying to conceal her baby bump when she would be out in public with Gosling.
During her pregnancy, it was reported that Gosling never fell short in fulfilling the role of 'dad'. Gosling absolutely indulged Mendes. He took it upon himself to do the groceries and run errands.
"He's cooking her meals... Ryan has already stepped into the role of acing father-to-be," an insider said.
