HTC Desire Eye vs. Samsung Galaxy S5: Features, Specs and Price Showdown

The HTC Desire Eye was recently launched with an estimated release date in November while the Samsung Galaxy S5 came out in April. Customers choosing between the HTC Desire Eye and the Samsung Galaxy S5 should read the comparison below before making a decision.
Both devices are made from plastic and offer water resistance, a good thing for those that want to take pictures and videos while exposed to water. The HTC Desire may have a more stylish design with its seamless and uniform finish. The Samsung Galaxy S5 has a sophisticated but less charming design.

The Galaxy S5 features a 5.1-inch Super Amoled display with 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution and 432 ppi pixel density while the Desire Eye comes with a 5.2-inch LCD display with the same resolution as the Galaxy S5 and 424 ppi pixel density.
Both the Galaxy S5 and the Desire Eye have a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 Krait 400 processor but the Samsung device is clocked at 2.5 GHz while the HTC one is clocked at 2.3 GHz.
Both devices have 2 GB of RAM. The Galaxy S5 runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat with TouchWiz UI whereas the Desire Eye runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat with HTC Sense 6 UI.
The Desire Eye offers 16 GB of in-built storage while the Galaxy S5 has two variants: the 16 GB and the 32 GB internal storage options. Both devices have expandable storage support of up to 128 GB.
The HTC Desire Eye sports a 13 MP camera with the Desire EYE and 1080p video capture while the Samsung Galaxy S5 has a 16 MP camera with 4K video recording.
The Galaxy S5 has a Li-Ion 2800 mAh unit while the Desire Eye offers a Li-Ion 2400 mAh battery capacity. The Samsung device costs AU$589.95 while the HTC device costs AU$766.
