A Yale University graduate from New Haven, Connecticut has been rushed to a hospital due to exhibiting Ebola-like symptoms. However, the hospital released a statement on Wednesday saying that the patient underwent the necessary evaluations and tested negative on the said virus.

The said patient is one of the two Yale University graduate students who studied epidemiology and traveled to Liberia last month to advise the health ministry in taking advantage of technological advancements to track Ebola, states Laurence Grotheer, the spokesman for Mayor Toni Harp of New Haven.

Although the hospital already ruled out the virus being contracted by the said patient, Dr. Thomas Balcezak, the chief medical officer of Yale-New Haven Hospital, noted that they will still wait for the confirmation of the test results from The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

For the time being, the hospital officials will continue to monitor the student and follow all measures and protocols for precautions in order to assure that the patient is already safe and would not spread the virus to the community, adds Balcezak.

Balcezak did say early Thursday that the graduate was in stable condition, but still has a fever and is being kept in an isolation room especially equipped for patients who might be infected with the virus.

The final confirmation from CDC will be coming in at 11 a.m. on Friday, states Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy. He also added that the isolation and quarantine units can be used by anyone who might be suspected with the disease.

Every hospital in Connecticut was ordered to have a readiness drill, which required teams and emergency medical services crews to take part on the said drills for an entire week.

Amid precautionary measures, Yale University released a statement assuring that the graduates did not travel into areas affected with Ebola, such as regions of Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea where almost 4,500 people have already died from the health outbreak.

Yale University initially asked the two graduates to quarantine themselves for 21 days after they came home from the trip, but both withdrew from the said isolation order. It is not yet determined when the graduates came from Liberia and when they got back to the United States.
