Google Creates Task-Orientated Email Service Called Bigtop

Google (GOOG) is looking to change Gmail with a new service, internally known as Bigtop. The new service will work on task-orientated emails and allow the email user to manage different email accounts and different email recipients in a timely manner.

Tech blog Android Police offers an extensive report on the situation - showing various pieces of the new Gmail service, coming to the Web, Android and iOS. The new service will work similar to Mailbox on iOS, with users being able to set timers for emails to show up in inbox.

Google will spice up Bigtop with a whole new interface, designed around the Material Design language. On the Web, users will have their different inboxes on the left, the main content in the middle and Hangouts on the right.

Information on how the user will be able to sort their snoozed emails has not been released, The Associated Press claims to not have all the information regarding the update, only having a few screenshots to go off.

Google has tried before with these sorting out features, like having Promotions go into a different mailbox. The problem is having these emails appear in the main hub as well, to make sure the reader does not miss them.

Images, video and even things like flights and receipts will show up when the user clicks on the email, similar to Google Now cards. This will allow users to get more information fast, without having to load the entire email and download attachments to view.

There is no release date set for Bigtop and Google could change a lot of the feature before launch. There is also no information as to whether Google wants to replace Gmail or create a new client - the new email account integration points to a revamped Gmail.
