Apple launched the iOS 8 at the company's yearly WWDC event and eventually released it in September before rolling out a major update early in October.

iOS 8 and iOS 8.1 bring significant improvements for Apple mobile devices with a lot of new and great functions to iPad and iPhone models. New features include the QuickType keyboard, audio messaging and the Apple continuity functionality. But there are still Android features that are missing from the iOS.

PhoneArena listed some important features in Android 5.0 Lollipop which are not in iOS 8 and iOS 8.1. Some of the features could soon be available in Apple's mobile devices but other features may never be. The first on the list is the guest mode which Android devices have had for some time already. The guest mode allows users to configure their devices to allow access only to certain data and apps when the phone is being used by anyone who does not own the device.

The functionality prevents other users from changing settings. It is not found on iOS 8 and the Family Sharing feature allows sharing of media content with a maximum of six users only.

The battery saver mode boosts the device's battery by 90 minutes more. It disables different functions such as vibration and connectivity. Android also offers various ways to unlock its devices such as face recognition, patterns and pass codes while Apple only offers the fingerprint scanner and pass code. Android allows easy data transfer between its device and a PC through USB mass storage support as well.
