Although "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare" officially just launched November 4, Sledgehammer Games co-founder Michael Condrey may have already hinted that the next "Call of Duty" game storyline could be returning to World War II.
The most recent "Call of Duty" game to be based in the World War II era was back in 2008 with the installment of "Call of Duty: World at War." Many Call of Duty enthusiasts have wanted a new game to be set in that time period ever since, and it appears they're not alone.

In a recent interview conducted by Metro, Michael Condrey was enticed by the idea of implementing the World War II era again in a new "Call of Duty" game.
"I think a next-generation game with the latest production values and robustness in a World War II setting like Band of Brothers would be amazing," the co-founder of Sledgehammer Games said in the interview.
Developing companies including Infinity Ward and Treyarch are currently on a "three-year, three-studio development cycle" for the "Call of Duty" franchise. The first game developed under this structure is "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare," which has already been released. That means there are at least two more games currently being developed.
Having the next "Call of Duty" based during World War II is certainly a possibility, although it might be difficult after all the new movement abilities implemented in Advanced Warfare.
Furthermore, Condrey also mentioned that "Call of Duty" stories are often inspired by news headlines around the world, but he would be hesitant to create a game around the current controversy of the extremists group ISIS.
"I think the tragedies going on around the world in the areas of genocide and ISIS would be hard to make a game out of," he said in the interview. "But again, that's just my personal opinion. I wouldn't be confident making a game out of it."
