(Photo : Reuters) Facebook's CEO Mark Zuckerberg has answered the long asked question about why the social network pushed mobile users to install Facebook Messenger.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and COO Sheryl Sandberg participated in an online video, where they responded to a variety of questions from fans and followers of the social network.
Zuckerberg most asked question regarded the Facebook Messenger install incident, when mobile users were forced to switch from the original Facebook app to the dedicated Facebook Messenger app.

Zuckerberg explained that the main reason for forcing users to install Facebook Messenger was because it was a better experience overall, referencing other messaging apps that create core experiences for one function.
Referencing WhatsApp and SMS, Zuckerberg claimed that while 80 percent of users in India and other South-East Asian countries were using Facebook, more than 90 percent were using popular messaging apps and services, showing messaging is a core product in itself.
Facebook is looking to do more of these one-function apps and will look to make every app have one identity, like the main Facebook app's function is Newsfeed. This will remove clutter from the main app and offer users dedicated functions for things they want to do on Facebook.
In a sort of small announcement, Zuckerberg said that 10 billion messages were sent on Facebook. "Even though it was a short term painful thing to ask folks to install a separate app, we knew that we could never deliver the same quality experience on a tab in the main Facebook app" said Zuckerberg.
Facebook Messenger has been available to download for a few months now, and Facebook is trying to make users by stickers to create revenue on the app.
