Xi Jinping: Proud Owner of World's First Dual-Screen Smartphone

Chinese President Xi Jinping is the proud owner of the world's first dual-screen smartphone, thanks to a gift from visiting Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In China to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) leadership summit, Putin gave Xi a diplomatic gift in the form of a YotaPhone 2, which is developed by Russian state corporation Rostec. He is reportedly the first person in the world to own one.

In addition to an LCD screen on one side, the YotaPhone 2 features a 4.7-inch electronic paper display (EPD) on the opposite side for reading e-books and playing games like Sudoku or chess. If the main screen runs out of battery, the EPD side can act as a backup.
The particular YotaPhone 2 given to Xi reportedly has been installed with special Russian, Chinese and APEC paraphernalia. It also includes a special data protection system developed by Russian engineers, who claim that the phone is unrivaled in regard to security.
YotaPhone 2 runs on Google's Android operating system, and will be available to the rest of the world next month. The phone will then hit European markets before arriving in China and South-East Asia in the first quarter of 2015.
There's no word yet on whether Xi is required to commit to an exclusive multi-year plan with a carrier, nor when he is eligible for an upgrade.
