AnTuTu has listed actual smartphone performances based on user experiences in 160 countries from July to September of 2014.

Chinese product Meizu MX4 topped the list with its average score being 48,792 followed closely by the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Third place went to the Samsung Galaxy Alpha while newcomer OnePlus One came in fourth.

HTC One M8, Moto X, Oppo Find 7, Huawei Mate7, Sony Xperia Z3 and Xiaomi Mi4 are all part of the Top 10.

Both the Galaxy Alpha and Galaxy Note 4 were only slightly below the Meizu MX4 while all others are evidently slower. The scores were computed by averaging all submitted user scores.

AnTuTu believes the Meizu MX4 is powered by the MTK processor. The brand is becoming more popular and more Chinese brands are expected to come out soon.

Based on the list, the Qualcomm processor still dominates with most of the top 10 smartphones having these chipsets. Motorola has not been on this list for several years but is making waves again with the Moto X flagship smartphone.

Chinese brands are starting to enter international markets and while their names aren't as highly regarded as Sony or Samsung, these brands are still capturing the emerging and mid-level markets. These brands still need to overcome the "non-high quality" reputation of Chinese products.

Meizu MX4 has a MediaTek MT6595 chip with quadcore Cortex-A17 at 2.2 GHz and quadcore Cortex-A7 at 1.7 GHz. It also has the PowerVR G6200 GPU.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy Note 4 comes with a Snapdragon 805 chipset with a quadcore Krait 450 at 2.7 GHz plus Adreno 420 GPU.
