Andray Blatche Drops MVP-Like Stats with Flying Tigers in China

Former NBA Washington Wizards and Brooklyn Nets player Andray Blatche has been putting up huge numbers with the Xinjiang Flying Tigers so far in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) season.

The Flying Tigers had the opportunity to win the 2014 CBA Championship last season, but the Stephon Marbury-led Beijing Ducks spoiled their hopes.

Three of the Tigers' stars weren't able to return after last season, leading many to speculate the team won't be as good the following year. But the basketball club did an excellent job with offseason acquisitions and finds themselves near the top of the standings again six games into the 2014-2015 season.

Key additions such as former NBA player Jordan Crawford and rising young star 7'2" Center Zhou Qi certainly makes an impact for Xinjiang. But the biggest reason for their successful start to the season is largely in part due to Andray Blatche.

After six games, Blatche is stuffing the stat sheet averaging 26.7 points, 13.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.7 steals. He's also showcasing his scoring efficiency shooting over 62 percent from the field and 41 percent from 3-point range.

Blatche plays a stretch power-forward for the Flying Tigers, as he's able to stretch the opposing team's defense with is efficient perimeter shooting. But the New York high school phenom also has the ability to bang down low and be aggressive on the glass snatching all available rebounds as well.

In the most recent game for Xinjiang, Blatche impressively flirted with a triple-double putting up 43 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists in the 128-101 win against the Tianjin Gold Lions.

Blatche could still be playing in the NBA, but reportedly didn't want to sign an extension with the Brooklyn Nets. Although he didn't receive an offer from any other NBA team, it seems Blatche has found his new home in China.
