Jeff Taylor of the NBA's Charlotte Hornets has received a 24-game suspension from the league after pleading guilty to domestic violence and vandalizing hotel property last month.

As a result, Taylor will also have to forgo 24 games worth of his salary. That means Taylor will lose about 29 percent of his $915,000 2014-2015 season paycheck translating to a fine of $276,000.
"This suspension is necessary to protect the interests of the NBA and the public's confidence in it," NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said Wednesday. "Mr. Taylor's conduct violates applicable law and, in my opinion, does not conform to standards of morality and is prejudicial and detrimental to the NBA."
According to details released by the NBA following an investigation, Taylor was arrested at an East Lansing, MI hotel on Sept. 25 after getting into an altercation with a woman he was reportedly having a "romantic relationship" with.
After heavy use of alcohol, loud arguing ensued and then quickly escalated into Taylor shoving the woman out of his hotel room where she hit her head on another hotel door in the hallway leaving a large bump.
The report also mentions that Taylor slapped the woman's arm leaving hand marks and vandalized hotel property by punching a hole in the wall.
Taylor pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to 18 months of probation. In addition, he must also go through a domestic violence intervention program as well as entering an alcohol treatment program, in which he must undergo daily tests for 60 days.
