The National Football League's New York Jets went into their game against the Miami Dolphins using a novel offensive tactic. They only played with 10 players and ran the whole game, which worked for most of the game, but ultimately fell to a loss (16-13).

The Jets have been away from their MetLife Stadium for three weeks. Instead of joy though, the fans commemorated the occasion by holding banners that stated that the general manager should be fired.

Head Coach of the Jets, Rex Ryan, decided to treat the fans to a 10-player running play frenzy. They asked that quarterback Geno Smith and off the ball every time and not pass.

Ryan and the Jets did not do this out of spite though. They did it to win, and the plan was so crazy that for most of the game it was working.

For the first three quarters, the Jets were actually succeeding with their all run game. By the end of the first half, the Jets had a 10-point lead. With 11 minutes to go in the game, they were up, 13-6.

However, instead of spoiling the playoff hopes of the Dolphins like they did last season, the Jets made some crucial errors, committed special team mistakes, and allowed10 points from their opposing team in the final quarter.

The game started to go south for the Jets when Saalim Halkin was called for holding. This gave the Dolphins the ball on the Jets' 39th. Lamar Miller would tie the score.

Then, Jets Kicker Nick Folk missed a field goal attempt for the second time and gave the Dolphins possession on their 35.

They even allowed Caleb Sturgis a 26-yard field goal with about two minutes left on the clock.

Just like that, their plan failed and the Jets had dropped to a 2-10 record.

The Jets outgained Miami on the ground, 277 to 74 yards. The Jets opened with 131 rushing yards, the highest total in an opening period according to ESPN Stats and Information.
