Cleveland Bids to Host 2018 NBA All-Star Game, But LeBron Doesn't Want it

The city of Cleveland is looking to capitalize on the return of LeBron James by making a bid to host the 2018 NBA All-Star game. But the one man who brought championship hopes back to the city is also likely the only one in the Cleveland who isn't thrilled about the idea of the exhibition coming to town.

Multiple league executives including Cavaliers Chief Executive Officer Len Homoroski have confirmed that a 2018 All-Star bid has indeed been placed for Cleveland. The new addition of Kevin Love and the return of James certainly helps the city's argument, but James is already feeling the pressure.
"It would be too much for me," James said following shootaround Tuesday. "It would be too much for me. I think it would be great for us to host it, but hopefully I'm no good in that year if we get it. I don't want it. My family, friends - I don't want it. Too much."
It seems James is already thinking about the numerous amount of additional appearances and ticket requests that he'd certainly have to endure during the All-Star break. He already convinced NBA commissioner Adam Silver to extend the break to eight days this season in an effort to give players more rest.
The 2015 All-Star weekend will be co-hosted by the Brooklyn Nets and New York Knicks, while the Raptors are already set to host the 2016 All-Star game in Toronto. But the NBA has already opened up bidding for the 2017-2018 All-Star games.
According to ProBasketballTalk, the Portland and Charlotte have also put in bids to host an All-Star weekend, and "other cities may well have done so also just without all the fanfare."
The NBA has a lot of specifications when it comes to hosting the All-Star weekend such as having a sufficient amount of hotels available near the arena in addition to having enough convention space to host NBA's Jam Session and other All-Star events.
The official selection of who will host the 2017 All-Star weekend is expected to be announced sometime early next year.
