The cities from the West Coast of United States witnessed protests and violent clashes, especially in Berkley, California and Seattle, as the people continue to react over the no indictment decision of the grand jury regarding the death of Eric Garner, a black man, who was put in a chokehold by a white police officer.

The white police officer was not charged on Wednesday and protesters in New York are using a new outcry using the phrase "I can't breathe", the last words of Garner moments before he died last July.
The protests on the streets of New York were quieter and more peaceful over the weekend, but those in the West Coast included rock-throwing and looting.
On Sunday evening, the hundreds of protesters marched down in Berkley. According to Officer Jenn Coats of the Berkley Police department, the crowd included around 500 to 600 protesters but marched peacefully.
However, the peaceful protests last Saturday evening ended up as a confrontation between the officers who were in the area and the demonstrators. Records show that there were six arrests and it also resulted to damages to the local businesses and a minor injury to one police officer. Coats pointed out that during the Saturday protest, there were a group of people who were intent on starting something violent.
In Seattle, protesters gathered in the downtown area on Sunday evening and it was peaceful as it included around 200 protesters. However, on Saturday, the protest was attended by over 1,000 protesters and there were also rock-throwing and attacks towards the police. There were seven arrests reported.
As for the protesters in Chicago, the church-affiliated protest on Sunday had the members carry signs and chants that says "I can't breathe" as well as "Hands up, don't shoot". These were the words of Garner that were captured on video.
Protests in Miami resulted to blocking a part of the Interstate 195 on Sunday afternoon that caused traffic as many citizens were on their way to the Art Basel show held at the Miami Beach.
Aside from the protests, the outcry also took place at the NFL stadium. Detroit Lions Reggie Bush was one of the several players who wore a practice jersey that has the statement "I can't breathe".
The decision over Garner's case has come days after the no indictment decision was also announced over the case of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri.
