(Photo : Samsung) Samsung is reportedly testing a new version of the Galaxy Note 4 in South Korea, running on Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 810 64-bit CPU.

It looks like Samsung is not happy with the performance of its Galaxy Note 4, because according to SamMobile a new Galaxy Note 4 is being tested, and is running the Snapdragon 810.

Qualcomm has been testing the Snapdragon 810 for most of 2014. It has some unique advantages, including a 64-bit processor, new battery saving technology and a smaller design.

The new CPU allows more RAM to be utilized, due to the 64-bit processor. New LTE-bands are also available on the Snapdragon 810-useful for Samsung considering the global approach.

It is not the first time Samsung has changed its flagship after a big component launch. The Galaxy S5 originally shipped with the Snapdragon 801, but after a few months Samsung started shipping the Snapdragon 805 inside.

Unlike the Galaxy S5, the Galaxy Note 4 is reportedly doing well on the market. It still drags behind the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, but that is to be expected. It is surprising Samsung is so willing to change the internals of a popular phone.

Last time the internals were changed in the middle of the year, Samsung got a lot of angry complaints from customers. Even though the update comes to most new customers, older customers have to stay with the older internals.

It is unclear how much better the performance will be on the Galaxy Note 4 with the Snapdragon 810. The Snapdragon 805 does have more clock speed and from what we know, there will still only be 3GB of RAM.

Samsung will most likely add the Snapdragon 810 to the Galaxy S6, reportedly coming in Spring 2015. It is unclear what Samsung will do with its own processing unit-Exynos-it will most likely continue alongside Qualcomm's Snapdragon, for Asian audiences.
