The Samsung Gear Virtual Reality headset "Innovator Edition" is officially available on Samsung's and AT&T's websites and can be purchased for $200.
The Gear Virtual Reality headset, or Gear VR, was first announced in September and created in collaboration between Samsung and Facebook's Oculus VR specialists.

The Gear VR doesn't depend on computers or a gaming console to power the device. Instead the headset exclusively relies on the Galaxy Note 4, which combines functions of a smartphone and tablet, known as "phablet."
The virtual reality headset has an optical lens with a 96-degree field of view, and offers a complete 360-degree generated three-dimensional image that appears to surround the user when looking around while wearing the device.
The headset consists of multiple sensors such as an accelerator, geomagnetic and gyrometer, and even has adjustable features that can be switched for users who are either nearsighted or farsighted. "When you watch a movie using the Gear VR, it feels like you are at an actual cinema," Forbes reports.
Although the device is available for any consumers, Samsung made it clear that the new VR headset is aimed more for early adopters and developers.
"This is a great opportunity for the enthusiast community, developers and Samsung to get feedback and continue to innovate in this exciting new space," says VP of Samsung Telecommunications.
Samsung will soon be implementing a service called Milk VR, which is intended to offer apps for consumers and provides channels for music, sports and action. Until then, Gear VR users have the ability to download apps through the Oculus store.
While the device is only priced at $200, users would still need a Galaxy Note 4, which usually costs $300 on-contract. So consumers without the phablet can expect to pay upwards of $500 for the new Samsung VR headset.
