Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton recounted several details from the vehicle accident he was just in last Tuesday. In remembering the occurrence, he says that someone should be dead.
The accident involved two cars. It left his own truck on its side with the roof flattened.

Survivors from the collision were still on the scene and were all smiles, as they agreed with Newton's sentiment and were rather happy that nothing fatal or life-stealing took place amidst the carnage.
At a news conference last Thursday in the Bank of America Stadium, home of the Panthers, Newton regarded the two transverse process fractures in his lower back as a fortunate thing.
The accident happened only two blocks from the stadium. Newton was on the way to his team's complex to prepare for the upcoming game on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Newton said he could not stop himself from smiling because he knew the "man upstairs" was the one responsible for letting him walk away from an accident like that.
After the accident, he spent some time in the vicinity of the car crash. He was transfixed at the mangled view of his truck and was then carted away to spend more than 20 hours receiving treatment before he was released.
"I'm looking at this truck and I'm like, 'Somebody is supposed to be dead. And one thing I remember is that I really couldn't talk afterwards because I was in such shock," Newton said. "I got myself out of the truck and I couldn't stop smiling. One plus one is always going to equal two, right?
However, he adds that as he looked on at the accident, he understood that one plus one does not equal two.
While his injuries will prevent him from playing on Sunday, he does not feel bad about it. Cam Newton says he is thankful he can breathe.
