A variety of treatment, medication, and management options are available for those who have Type 2 Diabetes, and a new drug has just been added to the list. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration finally given its go signal to a glucose-reducing drug called. Jardiance developed by Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals.
The FDA first rejected Jardiance but gave its go ahead after Boehringer Ingelheim successfully fixed issues related to the drug.
Dr. Curtis Rosebraugh said the drug "can be used alone or added to existing treatment regimens to control blood sugar levels in the overall management of diabetes," said FDA director of the Office of Drug Evaluation II,
The FDA, however, strongly recommends that those taking Jardiance also make lifestyle changes and acquire health habits.
The effect of Jardiance is improved when combined with healthier meals and regular exercise,. Doing so will help patients suffering from Type 2 Diabetes regain better control over their blood sugar levels, thus; diminishing the symptoms associated with diabetes.
