PlayStation Now Coming To Samsung Smart TVs

Sony streaming service is coming to Samsung smart TVs in 2015, as part of an effort to branch the PlayStation brand to other manufacturers.

Sony is pushing to get PlayStation Now on as many devices as possible, partnering up with South Korean rival Samsung to push the game streaming service onto smart TVs.

Users will be able to stream over 200 PS3 games on select Samsung smart TVs, similar to other supported devices. The only item Samsung smart TV owners need is a Dualshock 4 - the new PS4 controller - in order to play the titles.

Sony has already made the service available on its own Bravia TVs, this is the first time a third party has been able to access to the game streaming service.

Samsung TVs rule the market, taking up the lion's share of sales. The dominance of Samsung has forced Sony to remove staff from its own division, alongside scaling back the amount of TVs manufactured.

If there is one market Samsung has never shown interest in, it's video games. Rumors swirled about the company working on an Android console, but that never came to fruition, and Samsung has had to rely on third party partnerships to bolster its mobile gaming lineup.

Samsung will show off the new update at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January, and should feature PlayStation Now in all future smart TVs.

Early reviews of PlayStation Now claim while the technology works well, the pricing structure for renting games is awful, making games way more expensive for a few hours, than they would be to buy second-hand.

The lack of smart pricing and subscription service will put off a lot of customers, according to multiple gaming analysts.
