Torrent Freak recently released their list of the most pirated shows for 2014, the said list confirmed that Game of Thrones is once again the most pirated show, it has held the record since 2011. The HBO series was downloaded over 8.1 million times worldwide, with the finale of the latest season being the most downloaded episode.

Game of Thrones which tells the story of nine noble families who are fighting for control over the mythical land of Westeros has been airing on HBO since 2011 and is based on a series of books entitled,"A Song of Ice and Fire" written by bestselling author George R.R Martin. 

Torrent Freak also reported that Game of Thrones broke another all time piracy record after over 254,000 torrent users shared the same file at the same time, the torrent file was not named but has been assumed to be the season finale of season four.

Second in line for being the most pirated show of 2014 are AMC's The Walking Dead with over 4.8 million and Breaking Bad which garnered 4.2 million in illegal downloads.

Big Bang Theory took third place with 3.9 million.

Other shows that were included in the "Most Pirated Shows of 2014" list include How I Met Your Mother (3.5 million), Gotham (3.2 million), Arrow (2.9 million), Grey's Anatomy (2.8 million), Vikings (2.7 million), Suits (2.5 million) and South Park (2.4 million).

The fifth season of Game of Thrones is due to air on HBO in April 2015.

Torrent Freak based these numbers on the amount reported by the public BitTorrent trackers and does not include the number of times an episode was streamed online.
