Madonna has once again gained publicity, the wrong way. The singer has been branded by both Twitter and Instagram users as 'disrespectful' after she compared herself and her album to Martin Luther King Jr, Nelson Mandela and Bob Marley.
The 56-year-old 'Like a Virgin' singer posted a series of photos and tweets comparing her new album Rebel Heart to the works of the civil rights activist, South African revolutionary and iconic reggae singer.

The original album artwork showed Madonna's face covered with a black rope. She then went on to marketing the album by transposing the album cover to the faces of the three history-making icons, she even hash tagged the said photos with an album promotion.
Within minutes of the photos being posted on both Twitter and Instagram, users all over the world began to express their outrage at Madonna's album promotion.
A Twitter user, @jaimeshade directly tweeted Madonna saying "I know you are trying to make a statement, but you have enough resources to know that what you're doing is offensive."
While on Instagram people started commenting on the photos, none of which were positive, one comment from user @beate_abbey said "To lessen Mandela and Dr. King's work by making their faces part of a marketing campaign for an irrelevant pop star is just a huge disgrace."
In December, Madonna was forced to release her music after 13 tracks were leaked online. At the time, the singer branded the leak as 'artistic rape'.
