A number of Samsung devices will receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop soon. Only a few flagship Samsung devices have received the update already, and several were seen running unofficial Android 5.0 versions. Most Samsung users still wait for the much anticipated upgrade.

Reports say that the Samsung Galaxy S5 and Note 4 are already being prepared to get the Android 5.0 update. A Reddit user who claims to be a Samsung employee said that an internal announcement was sent out which included instructions on how to prepare the devices for the Android Lollipop update. The Galaxy Note Edge is also part of the list of devices which will get the update soon.

Android 5.0 Lollipop has a new user interface called Material Design UI executed across all Google services and apps with third party app compatibility programmed by developers. The latest Android 5.0 Lollipop is said to be aesthetic just like the iOS 8 with an even wider range of options for its users.

The guest mode allows users to configure their devices to allow access only to certain data and apps when the phone is being used by anyone who does not own the device. The functionality prevents other users to change settings. One of the top advantages of Android over Apple is its ability to choose and modify. It also offers the Project Volta battery tool, OpenGL ES 3.1 and Runtime.

The Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4, Galaxy S5 LTE-A and Galaxy Note 4 will receive the Android Lollipop update early in 2015 while the Android 5.0 for Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4 will be out by Q1 of 2015.

The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge smartphone included an upgraded fingerprint scanner version which was an introduced feature on the Galaxy S5 early in 2014. The Galaxy Alpha device also has a fingerprint scanner feature but Galaxy Note Edge has a couple of new software features with the fingerprint scanner as well.

The Galaxy Note Edge's sensor system has the Synaptics' Natural ID solution which divides the fingerprint scanner in two parts. The first part is at the home button where it reads the bottom part of the user's fingerprint. The second part reads the fingerprint at the screen's bottom part with UHD OLED televisions, home appliances and a Google Glass competition at the IFA 2014.
