The security research group of Google got into trouble when information on the vulnerabilities and issues of Windows 8.1 were disclosed even before Microsoft released a patch.
According to Sophos adviser John Shier, the bad guys did not have to be given such information. The Google Project Zero security group found a flaw in September and reported to Microsoft. It lets programs to run with administrator privileges without permission. Google sent Microsoft a warning that said the bug was subject to a 90-day disclosure deadline. Without a patch after 90 days, the bug will be visible to the public.

The Windows Phone 8.1 brings major changes on functionality and user interface just like Android L. Microsoft said it improves camera function, usability and management tools. There are more customizations and personalization on the Start Screen, Live Tiles, themes and wallpaper.
There is also integration on different screen sizes and Microsoft services such as Skype, OneDrive and Office. It improves battery life through the Battery Saver app and manages storage better through the Storage Sense app.
Android L and Windows Phone 8.1 are made to have the same functions and choosing a favorite depends on the user's preference. However, people who like to customize their phones and like to control it would like the Android L better while the Windows Phone is more for people who like things simple, easy to organize and clean.
Recent rumors suggest that Microsoft is ready to debut Windows 8.2 or 9. ZDNet said that a public preview of the Windows Threshold will be held but similar to public previews in the past, this time it still won't be complete with features. The final product is expected to come in Spring of 2015.
It added that the Windows 9 will sport virtual desktops but it is still unclear if the changes will only apply to laptops and desktops, or to tablets as well. Microsoft is said to allow a new functionality of booting to traditional desktop instead of keeping the Metro UI intact.
Windows Phone 9 could experience a rising surge of Windows Phone smartphone numbers with people preferring Windows Phone 8.1 smartphones because of the OS upgrade as well as HTC and other top manufacturers announcing standalone Windows Phone 8.1 devices.
