The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has enemies from within and without. Observers of the extremist terror group think it would be destroyed eventually, possibly not because of the U.S.-led coalition's airstrikes but implode.

Citing insiders from the Aleppo Operations Room, which coordinates the activities of the Free Syrian Army and other groups, the Daily Beast reports that ISIS has been hit by desertion, particularly among those tasked to perform suicide bombings.

Some of those who have attempted to leave the organization were three Chinese from the minority group Uighur, but they were killed by the jihadists as there is no room for disillusioned foreign fighters.

With a group made of diverse cultural beliefs and social backgrounds, with the religion of Islam the only ties that bind members together, it is inevitable that not all actions taken by ISIS would be agreeable to everyone.

One such decision is the controversial immolation of captured Jordanian pilot 1st Lieutenant Moab al-Kasasbeh.

According to Rami Abdulrahman from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Saudi cleric spoke against the burning of the young pilot during a meeting of ISIS in Aleppo province, resulting in his being ousted from his leadership post in the caliphate and soon facing a trial court.

The burning has polarized ISIS, with the cleric countering that it is the immolators who should be tried and not him, and Quran scholars stressing the manner it killed Kasasbeh violates Islamic principles.

On the other hand, those who agreed with the immolation countered that burning an infidel is permissible, while ISIS issued a fatwa on Twitter supporting that position.

However, Daily Beast points out that the pilot is not an infidel but a devout Muslim who happens to be on the other side of the fence. But the ISIS insist it has the sole right to determine who is a Muslim or not, or who deserves to be burned or not.

Reports of Raqqa residents who have fled the city said that some senior IS commanders have deserted, while more than 60 foreign fighters also regret their decision to leave their homeland and fight the jihad for ISIS.

At the rate ISIS is being torn by dissension, disagreement could be a stronger force than the coalition airstrikes that would eventually annihilate the extremist terror organization from the face of the earth, observers believe. It could be even more powerful than the improvised explosive devices that suicide bombers strap on their bodies.
