(Photo : Reuters ) Senator Ted Cruz said on Sunday that United States should arm Ukraine despite European leaders opposing such move.
U.S. Senator Ted Cruz said they should stay true to their treaty obligation to supply Ukraine with arms to hinder the pro-Russian separatists despite the European leaders' continuous plea for a ceasefire deal between Ukraine and Russia.
In a statement during the Munich Security Conference, Cruz said the U.S. really needs to provide defensive arms to the Ukrainians as they are dealing not only with the separatists but also Russia that has been providing support to them.

The conference in Munich aimed to plan a four-way talk among the leaders of France, Germany, Russia and Ukraine.
"We have a treaty obligation to stand with them. And right now, unfortunately, the Obama administration is not honoring that obligation," said Cruz. "We need to come together and provide defensive arms so that [Ukraine] can stand up against this Russian aggression."
The conference held last Sunday also aimed to revive the already violated peace plan that was signed in Minsk last September 2014. The leaders attending the conference all hope that the war would finally come to an end.
According to the United Nations, the death toll as the result of the war has already climbed to 5,300.
Washington is not part of the meeting and the deal-making but U.S. officials are saying that the Obama administration is thinking over the possibility of them sending help for Ukraine despite a possible war between Russia and the U.S.
Aside from Cruz being in Munich on Sunday, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry also attended the conference and explained that there is no rift between the U.S. and the European allies. They are all united in the effort to end the Ukraine crisis, said Kerry.
